Pushing Boundaries

Energy exudes from the walls of the streets.  Every corner you turn, only mildly bound by the rules of two dimensions- restrictions through which artistic outer limits nearly reach past- in the form of shapes and line combinations of infinite summations.

If you love art and vivid colors, you can never get bored walking through parts of Brooklyn like Williamsburg.

...And then you find yourself at a taco party where Topshop also happens to be hosting a pop-up shop featuring their newest fall looks, and accompanied by their wonderful personal shoppers.  Did you even know Topshop had a great personal shopping service?  I didn't until I'd arrived at the place where I thought margaritas were going to be the best part of the night.  No, no.  Margaritas and shopping... plus tacos.  Heaven on Wythe.  I couldn't resist but to try to a jacket in a color I loved.  No, I did not realize it would be the exact shade of my hair.

Thank you Topshop!

DW On Tour

Daniel Wellington has just launched a pop-up tour along the entire east coast, and I was lucky to be among the first to preview their brand new truck last week.  I had a great day with the Daniel Wellington team joined by some amazing people, brunch and then a day of hopping around NYC in our stylish new ride.

PS - It's still hot out but who's ready for fall?  Time to throw on those leather jackets and boots and transition your summer dresses!

Into the woods

Softly, swiftly
Down the path
To anywhere
In my dreams
In the wake
Or halfway in between,
See you when I get there

There's something about a flowy dress in soft colors that can make you feel as if you're part of a fairytale setting.  It's incredible how the movement of a material can change the way a woman walks, feels, thinks.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, perhaps you haven't found the right dress.  I strongly encourage every woman to try.  Sure, it's just clothing, but it can change you in ways you hadn't expected.  Subtle but significant.  Let me know.

White Out

What else says summer-cool better than an all-white look?

Emphasis on the "cool" by incorporating some mesh/fishnet detail.  I love an all white look because it's clean and crisp.  If I didn't have my occasional clumsy, coffee-spilling moments, I would do it more often.

With the return of the popularity of Calvins and their iconic underwear, I am not sorry to have jumped on the wagon only to discover my new fashionably-acceptable way of wearing a comfy sports bra under a broad variety of outfits-- and then extending its functionality into the rest of my day where I can continue on to a dance class and just swap out my top.  When it's this hot out, putting an outfit together should require minimal energy and effort.

By the way, almost all of the options I've listed in this post are on sale.
Win, or win?

Cerulean

Top - Calypso St. Barth
Jeans - Iro
Shoes - Zara
Bag - Dagne Dover

It was about that time: color change time.  Just as many girls feel like a new person when they get a cut or blowout, for me, it's a change in hair color.  I love that it's another way for me to express my style and to get creative.  It changes the look of an outfit and how I might accessorize.  I do not plan outfits around my hair, but I do ensure that the colors don't clash.

In this case, the pops-of-color turned out to match because I tend to gravitate towards blue.  Strangely enough, I've noticed it's more in my accessories than my actual clothing.  I'm not sure what that means, but if you couldn't tell, I love me some of those cerulean shades (side note: that was my favorite crayon color as a child.  Wait, I think it still is).

This top makes me feel free and girly, with its beautiful eyelet detail and voluminosity.  Between the top and the shoes (one of my favorite pairs), I had to bring the fancy down a couple of notches for a daytime-appropriate look, so I matched it with boyfriend jeans.

Do you ever base your outfits off of your childhood favorite crayon color?  Tell me in the comments, and also name your color!
